Names in the games: MU basketball, Dalton, Crocker
MU adds 6-9 Serbian to basketball program
Marshall’s basketball program has reached into Serbia again to fortify its upcoming roster, adding 6-foot-9, 260-pound forward Milan Mijovic.
Mijovic (pronounced mi-HO-vik) joins point guard Aleska Nikolic as coach Dan D’Antoni’s earliest recruits. Scouting reports say Mijovic, a Belgrade native, can establish a presence on the low block, yet play in space thanks to his quick feet.
Mijovic averaged 16.8 points, 11.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists for the BC Panda Club. He also shot 58 percent from the floor and 76 percent from the free-throw line.
Bengals’ QB Dalton signs multiyear deal
The Cincinnati Bengals on Monday made Andy Dalton one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.
Dalton signed a six-year extension. According to multiple reports, the deal is worth up to $115 million and will prevent Dalton playing out the final year of his rookie contract.
Dalton has passed for more than 3,000 yards in each of his three seasons. He led the Bengals to an 11-5 record and AFC North title in 2013. He set career highs with 33 touchdown passes and 20 interceptions.
Ex-Herd player Crocker signs with Vikings
Former Marshall standout Chris Crocker has signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Vikings.
The defensive back spent the last six seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, where first-year Vikings coach Mike Zimmer served as defensive coordinator. Crocker also played for Zimmer in 2007 when both men were part of the Falcons organization.
Crocker has played both safety and nickel corner in his 151 games in the NFL and has also contributed on special teams.
