Roundup: Mountaineers to face George Mason in Puerto Rico opener

The bracket for the Puerto Rico Tip-Off tournament was released on Wednesday with West Virginia squaring off against George Mason at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 in a first-round game.

The winner will play the winner of the 5 p.m. game (New Mexico and Boston College) on Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. The first round will start at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 20 with a game between Texas A&M and Dayton and defending national champion Connecticut will face the College of Charleston at 12:30 p.m. in the other first-round matchup.

The championship game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 23 with place-winner games going on throughout that day.

The Mountaineers played in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in 2010 and made it to the championship game before losing 74-70 to Minnesota.

SOCCER LEAGUE: The West Virginia Soccer Association is accepting registrations for the West Virginia Country Roads State League Fall Mountain Division for under-9 through under-12 teams.

The entry fee is $150 and the deadline for registration is Aug. 19.

BOHANON SIGNS PRO CONTRACT: Former Alderson-Broaddus basketball standout Kurklin Bohanon signed a professional contract with ASD Manfredonia of Italy.

Bohanon averaged 18.4 points and 6.5 rebounds over two seasons for the Battlers and was a first-team All-West Virginia Conference selection in 2013.
