Police have updated the description of the getaway vehicle in a bank robbery Thursday. They are now searching for a silver Pontiac minivan.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Police are still looking for a man who robbed a bank in Elkview Thursday afternoon and now say the suspect fled in a different vehicle than was initially reported.

Police said on Thursday that the suspect brought out a black pistol and demanded money from a teller at the Chase Bank on Railroad Avenue, then fled in a gold or beige Chevrolet Malibu.

After interviewing more witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage, police now say they are looking for a silver Pontiac minivan.

The vehicle was seen headed south on Pinch Road after the robbery, according to a release from Kanawha Sheriff’s Spokesman Cpl. Brian Humphreys.

No customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery, but several employees were working.

The suspect was reportedly wearing a mask, a navy blue shirt and blue jeans. He was described as a white man between 5-foot-9 and 6 feet tall.

Police wouldn’t say how much money was stolen.
