W.Va. State Fair kicks off 90th anniversary edition

FAIRLEA, W.Va. — The State Fair of West Virginia is marking its 90th anniversary.

The fair opened Friday in Fairlea and runs through Aug. 16. Fair officials expect more than 170,000 people to attend this year.

The Register-Herald reported that more than 220 people will be employed by the fair, including concert stage help, security guards and ticket-takers.

Performances by Chris Tomlin, The Tams and Scotty McCreery are scheduled.
