PRINCETON, W.Va. – Authorities have seized more than two dozen dogs from a puppy mill in Mercer County.
Mercer County sheriff’s Lt. Joe Parks tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph that 29 dogs were found living in a double-wide trailer on Hatcher Hollow Road. One puppy was infected with canine parvo virus.
The dogs included six German shepherds and a number of Maltese and peekapoos. Parks says two people who operated the mill were selling the dogs for $25 each.
Parks says authorities went to the trailer and confiscated the dogs Tuesday after receiving an anonymous tip.
The dogs were taken to the Mercer County Animal County Shelter.
Parks says the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case.
