The South Charleston Police Department, in connection with the Governor’s Highway Safety Office, will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in the 5100 block of MacCorkle Ave S.W. from 8 p.m. today to 1 a.m. Sunday. The checkpoint aims to reduce alcohol-related traffic fatalities, traffic crashes and other criminal activities in and around South Charleston, police said.
