Fire departments win grants for equipment
BECKLEY, W.Va. — Two West Virginia fire departments have been awarded federal funding for equipment and other purchases.
Rep. Nick Rahall announced the grants Thursday from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Rahall, D-W.Va., said the Cora Volunteer Fire Department in Logan County will receive more than $41,000 to purchase smoke, carbon monoxide and natural gas detectors for low-income households with senior citizens and children.
The Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department in Cabell County will receive more than $27,000 to buy 10 full sets of firefighting protective equipment.
