Second person hit by train in McDowell County dies

RODERFIELD, W.Va. – West Virginia State Police say a second person hit by a train in McDowell County has died.

State police tell media outlets that Ruth Mullins, 24, of Raysal died Sunday morning at a Charleston hospital.

State police say Mullins fell 60 feet after she was hit by a train while walking with two companions on a Norfolk Southern bridge. The accident occurred last Thursday night near Roderfield.

The train also hit Kenneth Neace, 20, of Roderfield. Neace died at the scene.

Randy McNeely, 20, of Hensley jumped from the bridge and suffered minor injuries. Hensley has been charged with trespassing.
