Alt rock band Everclear will be the headliner at West Side Main Street’s 10th annual OktoberWest event in Charleston on Oct. 11.
The band, which produced songs like “Everything to Everyone” (1997), “Father of Mine” (1998) and “Wonderful” (2000), will be preceded by Nashville, Tenn., based Gage, which is made up of Charleston natives, and local band The Company Stores.
West Side Main Street Director Stephanie Johnson said she was excited about this year’s OktoberWest and snagging Everclear for the event was “over the top” for her organization.
The lineup was announced at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
Besides the music, OktoberWest will also feature pumpkin painting, beer pong, cornhole and plenty of craft beer.
Available brews will be from Charleston Brewing, North End Tavern in Parkersburg, Mountain State Brewing in Thomas and Bridge Brew Works in Fayetteville. Beers distributed by the local Capitol Beverage Co. will also be available.
Food vendors will be West Side businesses Dem 2 Brothers and a Grill, The Smokehouse, The Grill, Cheerful Heart Catering and Mi Cocina de Amor – the site of Wednesday’s press conference.
Johnson said the event has helped fund projects like the restoration of the Fountain Hobby sign, the artwork in the windows of the Staats Hospital building, an art project for the Lowman’s Drug Store building and the “little free library.”
“We’re striving for big goals and I think they’re definitely accomplishable,” Johnson said.
Tickets for adults to OktoberWest are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. The price of the ticket includes food, drinks and entertainment.
Tickets for those 12 and under are $10.
The event will be located between Washington Street and Pennsylvania Avenue on the West Side from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
