This week, the Appalachian Queer Film Festival will host two area screenings of the 2013 documentary “The Campaign.” The first is at 7 p.m. Friday at the Kanawha Players Theater, 309 Beauregard St., and the second is at 7:30 p.m. Monday in room 154 of Marshall University’s Smith Hall in Huntington. Shot during a four-year period, the film follows the battle to defeat California’s Proposition 8 and documents the ups and downs of the fight to defend same-sex marriage. Director Christie Herring will be present at both for a Q&A following the film. The events are being held, in part, to raise awareness for the first Appalachian Queer Film Festival, which will be held in Lewisburg on Oct. 23-26.
