Vivian Carol Canterbury, 62, of Elkview, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 2, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.
She was a member of Poca Fork Baptist Church, Frame, where she played the piano. She was a purchasing agent for the state of West Virginia DHHR. She was very proud of her family and was a great cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Opie and Reva Shaffer, and brothers, Oral and Morris Shaffer.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Wayne; sons, Opie Travis and Tracy and wife, Tonya; daughter, Kellie Jo Taylor and husband, Mike; sister, Ina Chapman and husband, Ralph; and grandchildren, Cory and Cheyenne Canterbury. She will be missed by a host of nieces and nephews and all of her loving family and friends. The family would like to give a special thank you to Kenny Newhouse.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Stover and the Rev. Terry Workman officiating. Burial will follow in Bob Canterbury Cemetery, Robertson Ridge.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV 25387.
