CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A naked woman was arrested this morning after allegedly trying to rob a convenience store in Cross Lanes.
Cpl. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department said deputies got a call about 1:30 a.m. reporting a naked woman walking across the Motel 6 parking lot on Goff Mountain Road. Almost immediately, someone tripped the panic alarm at the One Stop convenience store nearby.
Humphreys said Deputy J.L. Miller went to the convenience store and discovered Drema Setliff, 30, of Charleston, naked and clutching a white towel. He said Setliff asked Miller to take her to jail, so he handcuffed her and took her to his cruiser.
Witnesses said Setliff walked into the store, tried to lock the front door and allegedly ordered the clerk to open the cash register, Humphreys said. Then she allegedly grabbed the clerk by the hair and ordered her to open the safe.
Someone then opened the door and helped the clerk escape while Setliff wandered into the back rooms of the store where she was discovered by Miller.
Setliff was arrested and charged with robbery. She was in the South Central Regional Jail on Thursday.
Humphreys suspects drugs or alcohol were involved.
