Singles dance

SpeakEasy Singles will have a Luau Dance from 8 to 11 p.m. today in the Wilson Student Union at West Virginia State University. Randy Damron will be the DJ. Admission is $10. South Charleston centennial

In celebration of the City of South Charleston’s 100-year anniversary, there will be a barbecue cook-off from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Oakes Field. Admission is free. There will also be a Citywide Church Choir Sing at 4 p.m. on Sunday at 1st Baptist Church of South Charleston, 515 D St. For information, call 304-746-5552.

International sorority

Preceptor Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday at Canaan United Methodist Church, 401 Roane St. Diane Domaschko will conduct the business meeting. Ann Henderson will present a program. Refreshments will be served after the business meeting. Bring items for service and for the pantry at CUMC.

WV Hillbilly Days

West Virginia Hillbilly Days will be held Aug. 31 through Sept. 31 at the Lincoln County Memorial Fairgrounds in Hamlin. Several events will precede the fair also at fairgrounds and vendors are needed. An arts and crafts show will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 25 and 26 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 27. Call Connie at 304-590-0808. A quilt exhibit will be held from Aug. 24-27 and quilt entries are sought. Baking contests for pies, cakes and breads will be held on Aug. 27. Entries must be registered by noon and judging begins at noon. Canning/fresh vegetable contests will be held Aug. 24-27. A bingo fundraiser for Lincoln County Fairs and Festivals will be held Aug. 18. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $20 for preregistration and $25 at the door.
