Villa DiTrapano to give away trip to Italy

Villa DiTrapano, owned by Charleston natives, announced a drawing for a free seven-day Italian getaway at Villa DiTrapano, in Sezze Romano, Italy, located just outside of Rome and near the Mediterranean coast.

The winner may choose the week at any time during the year, subject to availability. The winner may enjoy an Italian summer or join the DiTrappanos for the olive harvest in the fall.

Participants may enter the drawing by taking a photograph of one of their favorite culinary creations using the Villa DiTrapano Extra Virgin Olive Oil with a bottle of the olive oil in the photo.

Participants may either post their picture on the Villa DiTrapano Facebook Timeline and like the Facebook page or email their picture to villaditrapano@gmail.com.

The drawing will be held July 1.

The Barge set to reopen

The Barge, a restaurant on a boat in the Kanawha River, is set to reopen soon.

The restaurant is located at 1414 MacCorkle Ave., in Charleston, and will serve seafoods, salads, flatbreads and more. There is no opening date yet.

Ramp burger sales to benefit Richwood flood recovery

Ridge View BBQ in Institute has created a new pimento cheese and ramp burger. The ramps are handpicked from Richwood, home of the annual Ramp Festival.

For every burger sold through May, $1 will be donated to flood recovery efforts in Richwood.

Ridge View BBQ is located at 5010 Fairlawn Ave., in Institute.

Thai Cooking class

Join Uncork & Create and learn how to make a Thai meal including Basil Chicken and Rice, Crunchy Thai Salad and Spring Rolls. The class will be start at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Sign up at uncorkandcreate.com. All ingredients and supplies are provided. Participants will create a meal and enjoy eating it as a group at the event. Bring your own adult beverages. Seating is very limited. Uncork & Create is located at 901 Quarrier St., in Charleston.

Cucina Luisa cooking classes

Chef Luisa DiTrappano has announced a new lineup of cooking classes this spring and summer. Classes include: Vietnamese Cuisine, It’s All About The Salad, Summer Italiano Rapido and Easy Summer Entertaining.

Mother’s Day brunch

Celebrate moms by attending Gritt’s Farm’s Mother’s Day Brunch.

This Mother’s Day join Gritt’s Farm and Chef Stevie Owens to celebrate the mothers you love with a farm-fresh brunch.

Brunch service will begin promptly at 1 p.m. and end at about 3 p.m. Ticket prices are $40 per person.

Guests are encouraged to arrive at the farm early or stay late to look around. There will be produce, flowers, herbs and perennials in the greenhouses for sale.

The brunch will be outside under a pavilion in the playground area. Guests are asked to dress appropriately for the weather and wear proper footwear.
