Michael Moncada has joined Charleston Newspapers as its vice president of advertising.

Moncada, a Scott Depot resident, said he aims to increase the number of advertisers using Charleston Newspapers’ digital and print products, along with prioritizing digital advertising opportunities.

Moncada previously worked with Propel Marketing, a digital business unit within Gatehouse Media, as its channel sales manager. In the position, Moncada created the first business-to-business digital sales channel within Gatehouse Media and helped executives in their digital sales goals.

“The opportunity to do what I’ve been doing across the country here at home is a fantastic opportunity,” Moncada said. “Spending time working across the country was a great learning experience. I’m glad I’ll be able to apply my skills here at home.”

Moncada was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in northern Virginia. He graduated from Radford University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and later graduated from Marshall University with a master’s degree in business.

He has also worked as a regional market director for digital marketing company Hibu and a district sales manager for Verizon.
