International club

The International Club of Charleston will meet at 6 p.m. Friday at the Trinity Church for a potluck dinner and a program, “Introducing the Past Year’s New Members.”

Auction and benefit dinner

Boone Memorial Hospital will host the Reverse Auction and Benefit Dinner beginning with registration at 6 p.m. Friday at Logan Country Club in Chapmanville. The evening will include a DJ, silent auction, prizes and chance to win at least $3,000. The cost is $100 and includes a dinner for two and one reverse auction ticket. SMART5.29K run/walk

State Treasurer John Perdue’s office will sponsor its third annual SMART5.29K run/walk on May 20 at Appalachian Power Park. The 8 a.m. run begins and ends at Appalachian Power Park’s third base entrance. The walk begins 10 minutes later. Participants wind a short distance to Piedmont Road and stay on that artery to the state Capitol. The way back is identical. The walk is measured at exactly 5.29 kilometers. To register for the Saturday event, go to www.wvtreasury.com and click on the race panel. Pre-registration is $30 and ends midnight May 17. Race day registration is $35. T-shirts will be available on a first-come/first-served basis, while supplies last. The event will take place rain or shine. All registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Armed Forces Day Parade

The Armed Forces Day Parade will be at noon Saturday in South Charleston. There will be a bake sale on D Street in front of Happy Days Cafe sponsored by the Woman’s Club from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (after the Parade).

Barbecue fest

The Charley West Barbecue Fest will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Haddad Riverfront Park. $10 will purchase 10 tasting tickets to vote for a favorite commercial barbecue and a favorite backyard barbecue. Winners will be named “People’s Choice-Best Barbecue,” at 5:30 p.m. The event will benefit the Bob Burdette Center. There also will be live music by Pantry’s Party, noon; Holly and The Guy, 1:30 p.m.; Your Lucky Stars, 3 p.m.; and Beggars Clan, 4:30 p.m. There will be 50/50 raffle drawings from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Admission is free. West Virginia Jeep Club

The West Virginia Jeep Club will host its May Jeep Meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Wild Wings, at 70 Nitro Marketplace Blvd., Cross Lanes. Meet local Jeepers and off-road enthusiasts at the event. All off-road clubs, spectators and enthusiasts are welcome. There will be an RTI ramp available to “test your flex” as well as games and activities for children. There also will be giveaways, music and specials.
