By Staff reports

An Indiana man was killed and a woman critically injured just after midnight Friday when their pickup truck wrecked in Clendenin.

The truck driven by Jacob David Belcher, 37, of Indiana, ran off Youngstown Road near Reamer Road and struck an embankment, and then a tree, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department.

Belcher was killed in the wreck. A passenger in the truck, Heather Leigh Putz, 31, also of Indiana, was injured and taken to a hospital. She was in critical condition, according to the release.

The wreck occurred around 12:30 a.m. After a preliminary investigation, officers believe alcohol and speed may have contributed to the accident, according to the release.
