A person, reportedly from West Virginia, tried to set up a meeting last year between officials with the Trump campaign and Russian President Vladimir Putin, CNN reported Wednesday, citing sources with information that congressional investigators found an email from a top aide in the Trump administration referencing the previously unreported attempt.

Rick Dearborn, now President Donald Trump’s deputy chief of staff, sent an email last year to campaign officials relaying information about a person seeking to connect campaign officials with Putin, CNN reports from sources. The identity of the person who was trying to set up the meeting, identified in the email as being from “WV,” was unclear Wednesday night.

A source told CNN the person was believed to have political connections in West Virginia. It wasn’t clear if the request was acted upon.
