The Robert C. Byrd Institute is taking submissions for its annual Design Challenge at the West Virginia Makes Festival. The contest will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at Marshall University’s Memorial Student Center Plaza in Huntington.

The Design Challenge gives artists, students, enthusiasts and others a platform to present new projects and creations to a judge panel with a chance to win cash prizes, according to a news release.

Besides the contest, exhibits, live music and hands-on activities will also be featured at the West Virginia Makes Festival.

There is no entry fee, but registration is required. To sign up, visit or call RCBI at 304-781-1675.
