Plane leaves Yeager, collides with airport vehicle in Charlotte

A plane that took off from Charleston hit a vehicle Wednesday after landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

American Eagle Flight 5233 departed from Yeager Airport in Charleston at 2:54 p.m. Tuesday, according to a spokesman from American Airlines. After landing, the plane, which was carrying 31 passengers and three crew members, collided with a tug vehicle while it was taxiing to the gate.

The plane landed in Charlotte at approximately 3:40 p.m., the spokesman said.

Emergency officials responded to the scene. Officials took the driver of the tug to a nearby hospital.

The driver is reported to be in stable condition, the spokesman said.

No one on the plane was injured in the collision.
