Argument between two mothers turns fatal

By From staff reports

An argument between two mothers turned fatal Thursday.

At about 9 p.m., state Trooper J.C. Teubert, of the Princeton detachment, responded to a 911 call of a shooting on Nicholas Road in Bluefield.

Teubert learned that two women -- Elizabeth Slagle and Judith Kowaleski, both 42, from Bluefield -- were arguing about an altercation between their children that occurred on the school bus.

During the argument, Kowalski fatally shot Slagle with a handgun, state police said.

More details are expected to be released later this afternoon.
