Readers’ Vent: Sept. 5, 2017

This Democrat will never vote for Gov. Justice’s road bond issue. I would imagine most Democrats feel this way since he sold us down the river, and none of his new Republican friends will vote for it, so I predict it will fail to get thirty percent of favorable votes. Tough.

For some strange reason, Republicans believe that the less income one has, the more they can spend, or less taxes paid equals more money for the rich. Trickle down does not work, has never worked and will never work. There is no such thing as a free lunch, if you want a strong defense, more police, and better safety, you need to have the money to spend on these items.

Sure do wish we could get the potholes patched on Sam’s Fork Road. The last couple years we have bumped through holes all summer and then got patching in October or November just in time for the snowplow to tear it out. Looks like it will be the same this year if we get any patching at all.

People are right. President Trump is not perfect, far from it. But I can wholeheartedly tell you that given the two choices we had last November; I’d still enthusiastically vote for him over Hillary Clinton. There was no way I was ever going to vote for her. Never.

Something still needs to be done about the morning and evening traffic jams on Corridor G. It’s not the cars that cause the problems it’s the traffic lights that don’t keep the corridor traffic flowing at a decent rate. The light at the Corridor and Oakwood Road give way too much time for turning traffic and no where near enough time for the main highway traffic. This has to be fixed.

My petty question regarding the fireworks at the South Charleston football games was because my mother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, becomes terrified and restless for hours due to fireworks, and we weren’t prepared for the noise. I don’t really understand why there are fireworks at a football game.

The four-wheelers and side-by-sides in the Sissonville area of Rt. 21 are getting totally out of control. They drive on the road, which has lines, and it is illegal. The police won’t do anything about it. I guess we have to wait until someone gets killed and sued before something will be done about it.

Why does the Division of Highways not clean up the sides of the roads in the rural areas? There are trees, rocks and brush, it is unbelievable. If they do anything they cut it up and throw it on someone’s private land. When I was growing up that was taken care of.

Every year when I try to watch Marshall I have to hunt all over to find what channel they are on. I call the cable company, I have to do everything. This year I find out I will not be able to watch Marshall. What about us old people who don’t have computers or anything. Why can’t I watch them anymore?

How do people who are always late for events and ballgames manage to get to work on time? Tell them a time earlier than when you really need them to get them there in time. They’re late for that time.

To those of you who are concerned about Kaepernick he is getting exactly what he deserves. If you were a team owner or coach would you want some one who is disrupting a team especially when he is the quarterback and team leader? Not me.

My heart breaks for the people in Texas, just like their hearts broke for us here in West Virginia. I hope we don’t wait for them to ask before offering them help. And I hope President Trump acknowledges the help Mexico will no doubt send.
