Ashley B. CraigAssistant City Editor

Ashley B. Craig is assistant city editor for the Charleston Gazette-Mail and served in that same capacity at the former Charleston Daily Mail. A native of Rand in eastern Kanawha County, she is a 2003 graduate of Riverside High School and 2008 graduate of West Virginia University's Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism. She worked as a freelancer, then intern at the Daily Mail for several weeks in the summer of 2008 before being offered the position of cops/night shift reporter, which she rocked like a hurricane for more than six years before moving to the editor's chair. She came in second place at a spelling bee once and won second again in her school's geography bee. She was captain of her junior high's quiz bowl team for a while. She enjoys writing, books, movies, music older than her, cats and generally cracking wise any chance she gets. No, really, she's a fine writer and person and you'd be lucky to know her. She lives with her cat, Gracie.
