Hurricane 10, Riverside 0: Jake Allen homered, doubled and drove in four runs to lead the Redskins (3-0) to a home win over the Warriors. Garrett Gress pitched four shutout innings, striking out six, for the win.

Softball

St. Albans 7, Ripley 3: Kinsey Hudson went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Red Dragons (3-1) over the Vikings (1-1) in St. Albans. Hudson also pitched a complete game, striking out six. For the Vikings, Paige Swisher had two hits, including a double.

Herbert Hoover 15, Nitro 0: Kirsten Belcher hit a grand slam homer and drove in five runs to pace the Huskies (1-0) over the Wildcats in a mercy rule game at home. Megan Seafler went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs and Rebekah Woody had two hits and two RBIs.

Winfield 10, Sissonville 0: Led by Cartney Schoolcraft’s double, home run and two RBIs, the Generals (1-0) beat the Indians (0-1) in a mercy rule game on the road. Tiffany Childers went 2 for 3 with a double, and Abby Loyd drove in three with a double.

Charleston Catholic 14, Parkersburg Catholic 6: Olivia Corbett had a home run and five RBIs to pace the Irish (1-0) over the Crusaders (0-1) in a mercy rule game at home. Ellie Hughes went 2 for 2 with a triple, and Iris Hoyer got the win for the Irish, striking out nine.

Lacrosse

Capital 14, Putnam Storm 6: The Cougars (2-0) beat the Putnam Storm (0-1) on Saturday in Teays Valley. The Storm is made up of lacrosse players from Putnam County high schools. Josh Lowe and Christian scored two goals each for the Storm.
