West Virginia University recruit Teddy Allen had 22 points and 10 rebounds Saturday evening to lead his team to victory in the Class AAA all-star game of the Scott Brown Classic at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.
Allen, from Boys Town, Nebraska, was selected as the game’s MVP as his team, Employers Innovative Network, rallied in the second half to beat Crossroads Chevy 124-116. Another WVU recruit, Derek Culver of Warren, Ohio, added 11 points and 11 rebounds for EIN.
Chase Johnson, a former Ripley and Huntington Prep standout who has signed with Florida, also scored 22 points for EIN and South Charleston’s Tamon Scruggs hit five 3-pointers and scored 18 points.
For Crossroads, which featured four Marshall recruits, Jarrod West of Notre Dame — one of those MU recruits — tallied a game-high 29 points, going 6 of 12 on 3s. Poca all-stater Luke Frampton, a Davidson signee, added 18 points and 10 rebounds for Crossroads.
Class AA-A game: Tolsia’s Coty Jude poured in 27 points to lead the Adam Toney Class A All-Stars to a 126-105 victory against the Jan Care Class AA All-Stars in the opening game of the Scott Brown Classic. Jude sank 7 of 13 tries from 3-point range for the Class A team and added seven rebounds and six assists. Dalton Gray of Webster County had 22 points and seven rebounds for the Class A stars.
For the Class AA team, Bluefield’s Cody Fuller tallied 33 points, going 9 of 14 on 3-pointers. Dylan Brehm of Wyoming East scored 16 points and Chapmanville’s Hunter Neil grabbed 10 rebounds. Class AA was 21 of 56 on 3s.
Girls game: Aaliyah Dunham of South Charleston scored 16 points Friday night to lead West Virginia past Ohio 75-58 in the Battle Against Cystic Fibrosis Classic at Parkersburg South High School.
Dunham, who has signed with Xavier, was selected as her team’s MVP. She was joined in double figures by West Virginia teammate Jordan Fox of St. Marys with 11 points.
Hannan Grosel of Marietta scored 11 points for the Ohio squad and was chosen as her team’s MVP.
Boys game: Kyler Dennis had 14 points to lead a balanced attack as Ohio edged West Virginia 113-111 in the 16th boys BACF Classic at Parkersburg South.
Trey Duffy (Monroe Central) and Griffin Lutz (Athens) each added 12 points for Ohio, and Deijon Bedgood (Belpre) scored 10. Lutz was selected as his team’s MVP.
For West Virginia, MVP Will Billeter of St. Marys tallied 17 points, Logan Plummer (Parkersburg Catholic) scored 16, and Sam Kincaid (St. Marys) and Riley Heatherington (Ravenswood) had 12 apiece.
