Senior Kelsey Naylor hit a pair of two-run homers to drive in four runs and lift Herbert Hoover to a 8-0 home victory over Braxton County in prep softball Tuesday.
Megan Seafler was also 2 for 2 for the Huskies (14-3) with a double and an RBI and freshman Delani Buckner struck out 10 and only allowed one hit in five innings.
Poca 9, Canfield (Ohio) 6: Sarah Fisher and Tori Gibeaut each doubles and drove in two runs to lead the Dots (12-7) to a win over Canfield (9-3) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Molly Collins picked up the win the circle for Poca while going 3 for 4 at the plate. Catcher Karlie Hill went 2 for 2.
George Washington 8, St. Albans 0: Emma Groe had two hits, a double and a RBI to pace the Patriots (11-6) in a mercy-rule win over the Red Dragons (12-8) at home. Grace Smith added three hits and a double, and Riley Whiting had two RBIs. For the Red Dragons, Kinsey Hudson went 2 for 2 and Julia Vancamp had a double.
Huntington 8, South Charleston 0: Erika Williams was 4 for 4 with a double to pace the Highlanders to the home win. Camryn Michallas was 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for Huntington (15-1), Jenni Adkins was 2 for 2 with two RBIs, and Bree Clark only allowed one hit in five innings.
Groveport (Ohio) 4, Winfield 2: The Generals gave up four runs in the third inning and couldn’t recover in falling in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Sydney Houck drove in both runs for Winfield (14-5) in the fourth inning.
Darlington (South Carolina) 4, Winfield 2: The Generals led by one before giving up three runs in the sixth inning in defeat in Myrtle Beach. Emily Moore was 3 for 4 and Maggie Rumbaugh hit two doubles for Winfield (14-6).
Charleston Catholic 18, Elk Valley Christian 13: Iris Hoyer went the distance with a five-hitter and struck out nine and also added a single and double for the host Irish (3-4). Kelly Krietzer (3 for 3, two RBIs) led Catholic’s 12-hit attack.
Hurricane 10, Spring Valley 5: Lynsey Phares was 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs in lifting the Redskins to the road win. Kiersten Landers also collected three hits for Hurricane (19-1) with Jayme Bailey, Taylor McCray and Tori Green all adding two hits each.
Cabell Midland 6, Riverside 0: Olivia Canterbury only allowed two hits in the complete game shutout win for the Knights. Katie Kelly was 3 for 4 with two RBIs for Cabell Midland. Lauren Pauley had both hits for Riverside (10-8).
Huntington 6, Riverside 2: The Warriors led by one but gave up the last five runs of the game in falling at home. Luke Adamson and Chris Buchanan had the RBIs for Riverside. Bryson Parker had two RBIs for the Highlanders.
Sissonville 12, Point Pleasant 3: Cayd Snyder had three hits, two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Indians (8-5) over the Big Blacks (3-9) at home. Blake Newhouse added two hits, a double and two RBIs, Chance Jones had two hits and three RBIs and Tyler Grimm had two hits, a double and a RBI. Corey Harrison three hits. Abe Sterns had two hits and Alex Smith drove in two for the Big Blacks.
McClancy (N.Y.) 3, Hurricane 2: Charlie Neuwiler struck out 10 and had a hit and a RBI to lead McClancy over the Redskins (15-3) at the Mingo Bay Classic in Myrtle Beach. Kyle Schafer added a hit and a RBI for McClancy. For the Redskins, Evan Dearing went 1 for 3 with a RBI.
Wayne 9, Nitro 3: Brad Sharp and Zach Perry had two hits and two RBIs each to pace the Pioneers over the Wildcats at home. Isaiah Thompson, Dakota McCloud and Jeremiah Milum added RBIs for the Pioneers. Matt Hill had the Wildcats’ RBI.
Sherman 6, Tug Valley 3: Logan Burdette had two hits and a RBI as the Tide (5-5) beat the Panthers at home. Cordell Parsons, Lane Daniels, Casey Shelton and Hunter Breeden also drove in runs for the Tide. Kyle Sturgeill had a hit and a RBI for the Panthers.
Nicholas County 9, Herbert Hoover 6: The Grizzlies scored three runs in the seventh to break a tie and earn the road win. Chase Stover and Colten Rollyson both had two hits and two RBIs for Hoover (5-9) and Kyle Oliver hit a home run. Nick Nutter was 2 for 4 with a homer and four RBIs for Nicholas.
Ripley 5, Parkersburg South 2: Ben Mack, Remy Boyce and Rocky Ford all had two hits each in leading the Vikings to the home win. Ripley (11-7) had five different players drive in runs. South fell to 11-4.
Brighton (New York) 9, South Charleston 6: The host Black Eagles scored six runs in the seventh to make it a game but fell short. Brendan Quinn had two hits and two RBIs for SC. Jack Falter was 2 for 4 with a home run, triple and three RBIs for Brighton.
Scott 19, Poca 9: Nathan Ramsey went 5 for 5 with a homer and two doubles and drove in five runs for the host Skyhawks (12-4). Nathan Kuhn and Carter Lyles donated two hits each for Scott. The Dots (3-10) received 2 for 4 days from Bubba Hill and Chaz Roberts.
