Herbert Hoover softball center fielder Kelsey Naylor goes after a fly ball. Hoover will be among the teams competing for a Class AA state title in next week’s state softball tournament.

The brackets for all three classes of the upcoming state softball tournament have been set.

The Kanawha Valley has a trio of teams in the competition in Vienna — Hurricane and George Washington in Class AAA and Herbert Hoover in Class AA. The Patriots play first Wednesday morning, with a 10 a.m. matchup with John Marshall. Hurricane and Washington will play a half-hour following the conclusion of that game. The losers of those two games next play at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 in the double-elimination tournament, while the winners play a half-hour following the conclusion of that game.

In Class AA, Wyoming East and Oak Glen play first at 9:45 a.m. on May 24, while Hoover and Chapmanville play 30 minutes after the Wyoming East-Oak Glen tilt. The first losers bracket game in Class AA begins at 4:45 p.m. that day and the winners of the first Class AA games play 30 minutes after the end of the losers game.

In Class A, Fayetteville and Wheeling Central play at 9:30 a.m. May 24, with Moorefield and Sherman playing 30 minutes after that. The fist losers bracket game begins at 4:30 p.m., with the Class A winners game following 30 minutes after the losers game’s conclusion.

Losers bracket play continues Thursday, May 25, with Class A at 9:30 a.m., Class AA at 9:45 a.m. and Class AAA at 10 a.m. Championship games begin May 25 at 2 p.m. for Class A, 2:15 p.m. for Class AA and 2:30 p.m. for Class AAA. If necessary, the second games in each bracket will come 30 minutes after the end of the first.
