Prep soccer roundup: Charleston Catholic sweeps Bishop’s Cup

Mills Mullen scored two goals to lead Charleston Catholic’s girls soccer team to a 3-1 win over Wheeling Central in the Bishop’s Cup championship game Saturday in Wheeling.

Jordan Keener added one goal for Charleston Catholic, while Kenadee Wayt scored for Wheeling Central.

George Washington 1, Morgantown 0: Darien Ball’s goal led the unbeaten Patriots (9-0-1) past Morgantown (6-2-1). MaryLyle Smith recorded her seventh shutout for GW.

Winfield 1, Elkins 0: Peyton Frohnapfel scored to lead Winfield (9-0-1) past Elkins (6-3-1). Winfield keeper Emily Hudson recorded the shutout.

Hurricane 5, Capital 1: Shannon Felker, Brooke Lucas, Ann Marie Ramsey and Sydney Wheeler all scored for Hurricane, and the Redskins also benefited from an own goal by Capital. Katy O’Reilly scored for the Cougars.

Sissonville 5, Mingo Central 0: Zoey McCutcheon’s hat trick led Sissonville and Autumn Givens and Alleigh Jordan added goals for the Indians.

Boys soccer

Charleston Catholic 8, Wheeling Central 0: Wil Swan and Will Jenkins scored three goals each to lead Charleston Catholic past Wheeling Central to win the Bishop’s Cup in Wheeling. Phil Acklin and Kendall Stephens added goals for the Irish and goalkeepers Ethan Malinoski and Tim Kawash recorded the shutout.

Riverside 3, Scott 0: Ethan Goodyear, Carson Casto and Ryan Caruthers all netted goals to lead Riverside (3-5-2) past Scott (5-2-2).

Nitro 4, Williamstown 0: Seth Jordan, Sam Click, Hunter Bell and Zander Schmitt all scored to lead Nitro (7-0-1) past Williamstown (2-7). Nitro goalkeeper Joel Sweat recorded the shutout.
