Capital, Riverside tied for 5th in AAA football playoff ratings

Capital and Riverside are tied for fifth place in the first round of official SSAC playoff ratings for high school football.

The top 16 teams in each class qualify for the postseason.

Musselman and University, two of four unbeaten teams remaining in Class AAA, are tied for the top spot, with Huntington third and Martinsburg fourth.

Among other Mountain State Athletic Conference teams in AAA, Cabell Midland is ranked seventh, Ripley eighth and Hurricane 12th.

In Class AA, Bluefield is No. 1, followed by Bridgeport, Weir and Fairmont Senior. Mingo Central and Sissonville, two 3-0 teams who meet on Friday in Red Jacket, are tied for fifth.

Also in double-A, Winfield is tied for 13th and Scott tied for 17th.

In Class A, Fayetteville holds down the top spot in the first set of ratings, with St. Marys second, East Hardy and Midland Trail tied for third and South Harrison and Webster County tied for fifth.

Among other teams in Class A, Tug Valley and Van are tied for 13th and Sherman is tied for 17th.
