Power drops series opener at Kannapolis

The Power dropped the first of a three-game series with the Kannapolis Intimidators 8-2 Friday in Kannapolis, N.C.

Two big innings, the fourth and fifth, decided the game for Kannapolis. In the fourth, the Intimidators strung together singles by Mitch Rowan, Jameson Fisher, Micker Adolfo and Brandon Dulin to score two runs. With two on, Seby Zavala hit a three-run homer to increase the lead to 5-0.

The Power responded in the top of the fifth, cutting the lead to 5-2 on an Alexis Bastardo double that scored Tyler Sullivan and Trae Arbet. However, the Intimidators regained the five-run lead in the bottom half of the inning. Jameson Fisher walked and Brandon Dulin hit a two-run homer. Zach Remillard followed with a single and scored on a double by Seby Zavala.

The Power and Intimidators square off in game two of the series Saturday at 7:05 p.m..
