Kanawha Valley athletes, coaches set to be honored at Victory Awards Dinner

Buffalo’s Dylan Lucas (3) will be one of 23 Kanawha Valley athletes honored at the Victory Awards Dinner on May 21.

A total of 23 Kanawha Valley athletes and eight coaches will be honored during the 71st Victory Awards Dinner, set for 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 21 at the Village Square Conference Center in Clarksburg.

Athletes honored include first-team all-staters in football, boys and girls basketball, state championship coaches and players of the year in various sports as selected by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association (see list below).

The deadline to purchase tickets is May 12. No tickets are sold at the door. Tickets, priced at $20 each, are available at sports departments of daily newspapers around the state, including the Gazette-Mail. Everyone attending the banquet, including the honorees, must have a ticket. Checks can be made out to WVSWA.

In addition to the athletes and coaches, South Charleston High School grad Carl Lee, along with fellow former Minnesota Viking Lonnie Warwick of Mount Hope, will be inducted into the state Hall of Fame.
