A caravan of Boy Scouts from Troop 30 prepare to leave on Aug. 2, 1973, for the National Jamboree at Moraine State Park, 25 miles north of Pittsburgh. The United Methodist Church at Bigley Avenue and Buckhannon Street sponsored the troop. The 1973 Jamboree was the only split Jamboree the Scouts have ever offered. Eastern Scouts went to the Pennsylvania location, while Western Scouts attended a location in Idaho.
Each Sunday and Monday, Vintage West Virginia provides a glimpse of the past in the Mountain State.
