Charleston Light Opera Guild opens “Bright Star” Friday night at the Guild Theatre on Tennessee Avenue in Charleston. Written by actor/comedian/musician Steve Martin and Grammy award-winning songwriter Edie Brickell, “Bright Star” features bluegrass music and a story about a woman trying to understand her past. The musical opens Friday night at 8 p.m. with shows at 8 p.m. Saturday and a matinee Sunday at 3 p.m. “Bright Star” continues at 8 p.m. June 21 and 22, 8 p.m. Jun 28 and 29 and closes June 30 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20.
