In Short: Spencer Elliott, 'Cats,' Yak Fest

Charleston’s modern fingerstyle guitarist, Spencer Elliott, releases his third CD, “Folding Space,” Saturday night at Rock City Cake Company on Capitol Street.

A CandyRat artist, Elliott, is a longtime member of the Charleston music scene and a veteran of several bands, though mostly remembered for 90s indie-rock band Mother Nang.

The show begins at 8 p.m. Admission is $8 in advance or $10 at the door.

“Cats” in Logan

Southern Coalition for the Arts will present Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats,” beginning Friday night at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in Logan.

Performances are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday and then 7 p.m. June 14, 15, 21 and 22.

Yak Fest next week

Yak Fest, part of Tour de Coal, returns for year two on Olde Main Street in St. Albans next Friday. The outdoor festival highlights kayaking, fishing and other activities on the Coal river and features live music, art, food and craft beer.
