"Storming Heaven" opens in Morgantown this week


A musical based on “Storming Heaven,” an award-winning novel by West Virginia native Denise Giardina, opens this weekend in Morgantown. Producers of the show are digging for Broadway gold.

“Storming Heaven,” the musical based on the award-winning book by West Virginia author Denise Giardina, premiers this weekend at the Gladys G. Davis Theatre at West Virginia University in Morgantown. Set during the mine wars in West Virginia in the early quarter of the 20th century, the show features music by country star Tracy Lawrence and is being developed as a production for Broadway. The show is 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. The show will also return next weekend. Tickets are $11 and available at 800-745-3000 or through
