The weekend is looming. Here are a few events you may want to check out:


  • Live on the Levee has an indie rock show at Haddad Riverfront Park with New Jersey’s The Screaming Females, along with local artists Emmalea Deal and The Jerks. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. and admission is free.
  • Country singer Cody Johnson comes to the Mountain Health Arena in Huntington for a show that starts at 7:30 p.m. The show also features special guests Easton Corbin and Ian Munsick. Tickets start at $38.

  • The Mound Arts and Crafts Festival returns to South Charleston starting at 9 a.m. The day includes a wide variety of crafters and artists selling their work. Admission is free.
  • The Friends of Old Time Music and Dance (FOOTMAD) celebrates its 40th anniversary with a day of music and dance at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charleston.

The day-long celebration includes performances by Ron Sowell, The Modock Rounders, Slow Train and more. Music begins at 1 p.m. and admission is free. For more information, visit

  • The first round of the St. Albans Battle of the Bands comes to Roadside Park in St. Albans. Bands will compete in three divisions — rock, country and everything else.
