Q: Do you support evidence-based programs to protect public health during the drug abuse crisis?
A: (did not respond)
Q: What would be your top, specific goal as a county commissioner?
A: With the completion of U.S. 35 coming in the next few years, I’d like to help bring development along that route including the Putnam County Industrial Park in Frazier’s Bottom.
Daily Mail Opinion:
Q: What is the proper balance between public health/safety concerns and compassion for people who are addicted to drugs?
A: Without compassion, we fail as a society. But with compassion, there has to be accountability. The Putnam County Commission supplies opportunities at Recovery Point WV for qualifying Putnam County residents to enter into their rehabilitation center giving offenders a chance to get back on their feet and be a part of the community.
Q: Has Putnam County become a better or worse place to live in the past five years? How so?
A: Better, yet we still have challenges. Putnam County’s law enforcement and judiciary have made it difficult for drug dealers to get comfortable, especially compared to surrounding counties. We have renovated Valley Park, and created a Recreation Enhancement Fund that towns in Putnam County have used to rejuvenate their respective parks.
