We had a fantastic dining experience at Leonoro’s Spaghetti House a couple weeks ago. The family-owned and -operated restaurant was established on Broad Street, in Charleston, in 1915. Several decades later, due to interstate construction, it moved to its current East Washington Street location.

This Saturday begins the Chinese New Year. It’s the Year of the Rat. I immediately thought of giving some kind of recipe in which cheese was prominent, to carry the theme of the smaller mammal who will reign this year. I quickly dismissed that idea.

Merry Christmas to everyone this morning! I imagine the majority of you will be reading this sometime or someday later, but in time for a New Year’s Day meal next week.

We are now well past the lazy-day summertime refreshments on the patio or in the front porch swing, but there have to be thoughts of winter holiday brunches taking root sooner or later, and sports tailgates continuing. I think that’s the Super Bowl on the horizon.
