Malden Farmers Market: Kanawha Salines Presbyterian Women in the Church will again host the Malden Farmers Market on Thursdays this summer, from 1 to 5 p.m. or until items are sold out. Gritt’s Produce will be providing the majority of the produce. Critchfield Produce will also supply items. Opening day is Thursday, June 27. Fresh produce, baked goods, fresh eggs, pickles and chow chow will be some of the available items. Proceeds are used for outreach purposes. The church is located one block from Stevens and Grass Funeral Home.

Friday, June 28

Outdoor Gospel Sing: The Primitive Quartet from Candler, North Carolina, and Brothers of Faith will perform at the Leatherwood Missionary Baptist Church’s 35th annual Outdoor Gospel Sing, starting at 7 p.m. Admission is free; a love offering will be taken for the singers. Elk Valley Christian School will provide a concession stand, with proceeds going to the school. Those attending should bring lawn chairs. In the event of rain, the sing will take place at Mt. Sissonville Farmers Market: The Sissonville Farmers Market will be held this summer on the campus of Maranatha Baptist Church. It will run every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 29 through Sept. 7, with locally grown produce provided by Robbie Gance Farms and a variety of special products by other vendors. Special events will be held regularly in conjunction with the market throughout the summer as well as prepared food for sale every week. Rand Community Fair: The annual Rand Community Fair will be held from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The fair will include music, games for children, and vendors. Those interested in having a vendor area at the community fair can contact Mac Reed at 304-444-7502 for more details. There is no charge for vendors.

Malden Yard Sale: A community yard sale will be held throughout Malden, Rand and the Georges Creek and Jonquil Drive areas today.

Freedom Celebration: The fifth annual Freedom Celebration, a Charleston FestivALL event, will be presented at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church on Charleston’s West Side. Calvary Baptist Music Director Barry Skeenes will conduct patriotic musical selections. The Declaration of Independence will be read by Ed Rabel, with community chorus and orchestra. Concert admission is free. Calvary Baptist Church is located just off the westbound I-64 exit for Washington Street West and the Lee Street exit of eastbound I-64, on Charleston’s West Side at the corner of Lee Street and Maryland Avenue directly behind the Kroger supermarket.

Marmet Music/Dance: Insured Sound will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Marmet Recreation Center, 8505 MacCorkle Ave., Marmet. Admission is $10 per person.

Sunday, June 30

Judson Baptist VBS: Judson Baptist Church, 320 East 8th St., Belle, will host “Roar!” Life is Wild: God is Good” vacation Bible school, for children preschool to fifth grade, including Bible stories, crafts, games and science activities each day. The VBS will take place from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. nightly Sunday, June 30, through Thursday, July 4. Monday, July 1

MLKCC Summer Camp: From July 1 to July 19, the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Charleston will offer a free summer camp for children ages 5 to 16. Camp will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and will include lunch for all campers. Games, crafts, speakers and swimming are a few highlights of the camp. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center is located at 314 Donnally St. in Charleston.
