Wednesday, June 12

Pinch Fire Prevention Carnival: The Pinch Volunteer Fire Department will host a Fire Prevention Carnival starting at 6 p.m. this evening and each evening through Saturday, June 15, at the fire department, 231 North Pinch Road, Pinch. The carnival will feature a petting zoo nightly with animals from Mountain View Homestead in Pinch, midway rides and games provided by Myers Amusements and fireworks, provided by Extreme Pyrotechnics. The fireworks show is scheduled to start at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Thursday, June 13

Secret Santa Foundation: The Secret Santa Foundation will meet at 6 p.m. at the Columbia Gas Transmission Building, 1700 MacCorkle Ave., S.E., Charleston, in Room 1163.

Friday, June 14

Benefit Yard/Hot Dog Sales: Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Home, 2149 Greenbrier St., Charleston, will host a yard sale and hot dog sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Alzheimer’s Association and Resident Council. The event will be canceled in the event of rain. The nursing home is located on Route 114, a half-mile north past Capital High School.

Parkinson’s Support Group: A Parkinson’s support group will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the Colonial Room at Edgewood Summit in Cato Park, Baker Lane, Charleston. This month’s topic is “Stretching.” The guest speaker is Jessica Eastridge, DPT. Handicapped access and parking is available. A wheelchair is available if needed. Refreshments will be served. ‘Incredible Summer’: Witcher Baptist Church’s “Incredible Summer” program will continue with a family road race at 6 p.m. The church will also have Family Art Night at 6 p.m. on June 29.

Father’s Day Dinner: At 5 p.m., Chelyan United Methodist Church will host a free dinner for fathers and sons and all brothers.

Marmet Music/Dance: JAB will perform from 7 until 10 p.m. at the Marmet Recreation Center, 8505 MacCorkle Ave., Marmet. Admission is $10 per person.

Ensemble Radieuse: The Charleston Chamber Music Society will conclude its 77th season with a performance of Ensemble Radieuse, featuring former Charleston pianist Melanie Foster Taylor, at 7 p.m. at Christ Church United Methodist, Quarrier and Morris streets, Charleston. The ensemble will perform works by Gershwin, Telemann, Dring, Doppler and others. Non-reserved tickets are $20 at the door or season tickets can be used.

Luau Dance: The SpeakEasy Singles social group will host a luau dance, with DJ Dancin’ Dave, from 8 to 11 p.m. in the Columbia Gas Ballroom, off MacCorkle Avenue in Charleston. Admission is $10 per person, with food included and nonalcoholic drinks available for $1 each.
