We asked readers to send in photos of their favorite furry friends all dressed up for Halloween -- and boy, did you deliver!
Here are some of the spookiest, goofiest and cutest critters around. Don't see your submitted photo? Be sure to check back next Sunday, Oct. 30, when we'll run more pet photos, plus some cute kids, too!
These long-hair dachshunds are 3-year-old siblings Blue and Marigold. They live in Elkview with Pat Cowdery and John Blisard, and can often be seen romping around Coonskin Park.
These two pirate dogs are Bailey and Baylese. They are both bichons. The Schick family rescued them — both bichons frisés — from shelters. Baylese, who was 3 at time of rescue, was a puppy-mill dog and had been living in a cage all her life to breed puppies. Bailey, rescued last year at age 12, had been severely neglected and was in poor medical condition. We rescued him last year when he was 12 years old. They are now loving their new lives and they make the cutest couple!
Bo (Scooby Doo) and Copper (Scrappy) are excited for a Halloween mystery! They plan to solve it on their own without any pesky kids. The super sleuths live in Gassaway.
Bonnie Bell (left) and Lilly Bell are Boston terriers who love to get dressed up and pose for pictures — probably because they get lots of treats in the process, says Mom. This year’s costumes are out of this world.
If you need a cute construction worker, Ferguson is the good boy for the job. He is a mini Australian shepherd who is away at school with his owner, Lauren Ellis, at Xavier University in Cincinnati. Their permanent home is in Scott Depot.
Fonzi is the cutest inmate, but don’t trust him with your secrets, as he was found “yappy as charged.” The 9-year-old from Belle won spookiest costume in a local pet parade.
Gracee, age 10 (left), and Baby Girl, age 7, were dressed as waffles last year, while their people parents dressed as an egg and bacon. The “Breakfast Family” lives in Chapmanville.
Gus Mullen is a 1-year-old English golden retriever who lives in South Hills and can’t wait to love and lick all of the children in their Halloween costumes. His people parents are Dr. Jeff Mullen and Catherine Mullen.
Kali has cast her spells and distributed her treats and now awaits some treats of her own! She is a rescue cat and lives with her parents, the Whitlocks, in Alum Creek. She will turn 9 very soon.
Romeo, a 10-month-old Maine Coon cat, might look terrifying as Dracula, but he is really a very sweet kitten. He lives in Cross Lanes with his “pawrents,” Steve and Tracie Hamula, and his kitty sister, Arden.
Teddy B Marks is a 6-year-old mini golden doodle. He does not always enjoy Mom’s photo shoots, but he is a good boy and always tolerates them. He is owned by Jane and John Marks of Charleston.
