Charleston agencies collaborate for National HIV Testing Day

West Virginia Health Right, the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, Charleston Area Medical Center's Ryan White Program and Covenant House of Charleston are coming together to provide free HIV testing on National HIV Testing Day.

On Thursday, June 27, testing will be available from 8 a.m. to noon at Covenant House, located on 600 Shrewsbury Street in Charleston.

This testing date is in addition to the free weekly tests that happen from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, and from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, at Covenant House.

The Wednesday testing began last month in an effort to prevent HIV clusters from occurring in Charleston as they have in Cabell County in May.

Those who participate in the "Doing It My Way" testing on June 27 will not only get to know their status and get linked to care and treatment, if needed, but will also receive a $10 gift card.

In addition to these testing dates, CAMC's Ryan White Program provides walk-in testing, outpatient care treatment and support services Monday through Friday, even if an individual is unable to pay.

The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department also offers HIV testing by appointment.
