Justice appoints Charleston lawyer, former delegate to third stint on PSC

Gov. Jim Justice announced Friday that he is appointing Charlotte Lane to a familiar position, as chairwoman of the state Public Service Commission.

Lane, a Charleston lawyer, has served two previous stints on the PSC, from 1985-89, and from 1997-2003, when she also was PSC chairwoman.

She left the PSC in 2003 to become a member of the U.S. International Trade Commission, where she served through 2010.

A Republican, Lane also served three separate two-year terms in the House of Delegates, the most recent being 2017-18, and ran in the Republican primary for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014.

Lane will succeed Mike Albert, whose current six-year term on the commission expires on June 30. Albert has served on the commission since 2007.
