This barn loft is a popular Airbnb near the New River Gorge in Fayette County.

A free workshop on how to start an Airbnb business will be June 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Booker T. Washington Community Center in London.

The workshop will be led by Jeremy Turner, founder and managing director of Epic Mission, Inc., of Huntington, an entrepreneurship coaching and consulting firm. His appearance is sponsored by Advantage Valley, the Kanawha County Commission and the Eastern Kanawha County Prevention Partnership.

West Virginia’s 900 Airbnb hosts booked about 90,000 visitors during 2018, according to the company, with nearly 5,000 of those guests staying in Kanawha County properties. The 2,900 of those guests who booked Airbnb stays in Charleston last year account for a 52 percent increase over 2017 bookings in the state’s capital city.

The Airbnb workshop is open to the public.
