Active shooter training planned for CASCI building Thursday

“Due to the location’s high visibility to both motorists and pedestrians on the Boulevard, we are advising the public that they should expect to see many emergency vehicles and the presence of many police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel at the building site,” the ambulance authority said in a release Tuesday.

The training, taught by instructors from Louisiana State University, aims to improve integration between law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services in active shooter events, the release says.

It provides law enforcement officers with key medical skills to increase survivability of victims and provides a model framework for law enforcement, fire and EMS to integrate responses during an active shooter event, according to the release.
