Former WV sheriff's deputy indicted on federal drug charges

CLARKSBURG — A former West Virginia sheriff's deputy who was found guilty of falsifying documentation of payments made to confidential informants has been indicted on federal drug distribution charges.

News outlets report U.S. Attorney Bill Powell's office announced Wednesday that 41-year-old Timothy Rock is charged with four counts of distributing heroin.

A news release states the alleged drug activity took place in Harrison County in 2016.

A male informant testified during the trial on falsifying documents charges that Rock allowed him to have some of the heroin from a drug bust instead of receiving vouchers for pay for his informant work.

Rock was found guilty of 17 counts of falsifying accounts and one count of conspiracy to commit a felony.
