Steven Theodore Halstead, 61, of Ripley, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018, following an extended illness.

He was born March 9, 1957, at Charleston, a son of Theodore Roosevelt and the late Luella Mae Adkins Halstead. Steve was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, riding his Harley, and spending time with his friends and family. He was employed as an operator at Columbia Gas/Transcanada for 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Kim Humphreys Halstead; Daughters Tanya Halstead Winter (Frankie) and Tosha Halstead Morris (Chad); Stepsons Brandon DeLong (Erica) and Tyler DeLong; Brothers Jeff Halstead (Valerie) of Nitro and Gary Halstead of Nitro; Grandchildren Greyson Morris, Ella Winter, Gaige Frazier, Bentley DeLong, Aubri DeLong, Charlotte DeLong, and Camille DeLong; Nieces Faith Halstead, Jessica Batten, Ashley Batten, and Michele Batten; Great nieces Aubrianna Cottrill, Emerson Batten, and Izzabelle Batten. He is also survived by a host of cousins, in-laws, and extended family.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandson, the late Gavin Morris.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 13, at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Stephen Sayre officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
