LETTER: Factor in personal income tax exemption

If the personal income tax exemption had been indexed for inflation, especially in 2022, it would now be about $5,000.

I don’t know what this would cost the state, but there is plenty of room in the proposed rate reductions to absorb such an increased personal exemption. I encourage both chambers to consider this fact in their negotiations.

In fact, I ask all the legislators and the governor to include this piece of fairness in their changes, especially for our young families.
