The Gazette-Mail had a chance to honor front-line workers, who are still going to work every day despite the effects of the pandemic. (Especially in this state, where it’s barely over 50% of adults who have been vaccinated.)
Instead, you gave the title of “West Virginian of the Year” to Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., who has always been about himself and his family and money, instead of helping ordinary West Virginians, who make very little at minimum-wage jobs.
We are the poorest, least-educated and most unhealthy state in the union, and the Gazette-Mail is rewarding someone who is holding us back and hurting the rest of the nation for a better chance for all Americans who have been hit hard by the pandemic.
Manchin will never fill the honorable Sen. Robert C. Byrd’s shoes, and I disagree that the Gazette-Mail believes, with his poorly spent power, that he even comes close. He is a narcissist, along the same line as Donald Trump and his minions.
