Readers' Vent: June 6, 2019

If anyone causes the death of a child either by intent or neglect; they should get a life sentence with no possibility of ever getting out.

By all means students who take learning seriously should get more opportunities than do students who just try to get by. I went to school with kids who studied hard and those who just wanted to play. The ones who studied hard made something of themselves and the ones who played work at non-skilled jobs, if they work at all. You reap what you sow.

Two things are going down that should make Americans happy. 1. The unemployment rate. 2. CNN ratings.

Residents of Jackson County, what did the citizens of the State of West Virginia do to you that you would vote into office Mitch Carmichael? He makes Barney Fife look good.

Keeping protesters physically away from patients does NOT keep them from peacefully gathering or sharing their beliefs. It simply keeps them from stopping a patience from accessing a medical facility. No one is stopped from sharing their feelings or gathering, just from harassing patients and preventing them from accessing medical treatment. Wonder how people would feel if a religious group who doesn’t believe in transplants stopped people from going into CAMC for a transplant? It could happen if we allow strangers to make our medical decisions.

Poverty exists, not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Why do these insane politicians think they have more understanding of education than the professionals. As usual, the Republicans want the public to pay for their choice for private education.

Wouldn’t it be nice this summer to see our friendly city police officers all over the state once again dressed in light blue short-sleeved shirts? Being dressed in long-sleeved black uniforms must be uncomfortably hot and makes our police forces look like ISIS fighters.

Poca Elementary School had a wonderful graduation on May 22 for the kindergarten class. The kids were great and the teachers worked hard. Thanks to the teachers Poca is the best!
